IN FOCUS
THE ASSEMBLY'S PRIORITIES FOR 2026
As NATO adapts to a rapidly evolving and increasingly contested security environment, parliamentary engagement will be essential to ensure delivery, democratic oversight, and parliamentary alignment across the Alliance.
Building on its core mission to foster transatlantic unity, the Assembly will advance parliamentary dialogue on deterrence and defence, defence investment and industrial capacity, resilience against hybrid threats and coercion, and cooperation with partners across NATO’s neighbourhood and beyond. Through committee work, sessions, and parliamentary fact-finding missions, these priorities will be translated into concrete parliamentary action throughout the year.

KEY THEMES
COMMITTEES IN FOCUS

From strategic priorities to parliamentary action. In 2026, the Assembly’s committees will take forward these themes through targeted reports addressing threats and challenges, defence readiness, resilience, and cooperation with partners. Their work provides parliamentarians with analysis, policy guidance and recommendations to support collective security across the Alliance.
2026 SESSIONS
In 2026, the Assembly’s sessions will serve as key political moments – where committees present their work, parliamentarians debate priorities, and resolutions are adopted to reflect the collective voice of NATO member parliaments and partners. These exchanges help inform national debates, reinforce democratic oversight, and contribute to Allied cohesion at a critical time for transatlantic security.
