SESSION BACKGROUND
Our two parliamentary sessions per year provide critical opportunities to address the key topics on the Euro‑Atlantic defence and security agenda. It also allows the 274 NATO PA members and about 100 partner legislators to influence decisions within the NATO Alliance. Members convene in a range of meetings, notably in the Assembly’s five Committees and a plenary sitting. They engage with top representatives of the host country, NATO and high-level experts. Additionally, members discuss and adopt reports and resolutions, distilling key policy recommendations for Allied governments, parliaments and NATO. Although not binding, these reports and resolutions represent a collective view of parliamentarians from the 31 NATO member states. Hence, these sessions serve as pivotal moments for diplomacy between Allies and partners, supporting national parliamentary oversight, fostering transparency, strengthening the transatlantic relationship, bolstering shared democratic values and increasing the understanding of NATO objectives and missions in the Alliance and beyond.
